Broadway

Any card ranked ten or higher: ten, jack, queen, king, or ace. A broadway hand holds two of them.

Broadway hands (AK, AQ, KQ, and the rest of the ten-through-ace combinations) are prized preflop for their combination of high-card strength and straight potential, since five consecutive broadway cards make the best possible straight. They form the backbone of tight opening ranges from early position, where only the strongest, most straightforward hands are worth raising with the whole table still to act.
