Equity realisation
The share of a hand's raw equity that actually gets converted into chips, as opposed to its fair share of the pot on paper.
A hand with 40% equity that never sees showdown collects nothing; a hand with 30% equity that wins the pot uncontested collects all of it. That gap is realisation, and it is driven far more by who bets than by who is ahead: a bettor over-realises by taking the pot down before a worse-equity opponent gets a fair shot at it, a folder's realisation drops to exactly zero the instant they fold, and a caller lands somewhere between the two depending on what happens on later streets.
