Poker Challenges vs Holdem Resources Calculator
The serious tournament modelling tool. A sandbox for building and solving custom ICM spots, with no drill mode of its own.
HRC is the deepest tournament ICM tool of the three, and the one coaches reach for when they need to model an exact situation. You describe a spot in full (stacks, blinds, antes, payout structure) and it solves it. Its Pro tier adds genuine postflop solving at any stack depth. It is a calculator and a sandbox, not a trainer: there is nothing in it that quizzes you.
Where Holdem Resources Calculator is better than us
- Arbitrary spot construction. Any stack depth, any blind level, any payout structure, solved from scratch. Nothing we build replaces this, and we are not trying to.
- Real postflop solving on the Pro tier, at any stack depth, with ICM applied. Our drills are preflop only.
- It is the reference tool a lot of coaches and serious tournament players already use, so its output is what your study group is likely to be quoting.
- Saved trees and scripted tree building let you keep a personal library of solved spots and rebuild them in bulk.
Where we differ
- HRC gives you an answer. We ask you the question and score you. Those are different activities, and reading a solved range is not the same as recalling it at the table.
- It is a desktop download; we run in a browser tab with no install and no licence.
Pricing
- Classic: $16.66 / month, or $119.90 / year ($9.99 a month)Stacks up to about 30 big blinds, trees up to 50,000 nodes, fixed 256-bucket postflop realisation.
- Pro: $49.99 / month, or $359.90 / year ($29.99 a month)Any stack size, tree size limited only by memory, up to 16,384-bucket postflop realisation, dedicated postflop solving and scripted tree building.
A free trial that does not ask for payment details. Both paid tiers carry a 14-day money-back guarantee and cover one user on two installations.

Verdict
These two do not really compete. HRC is where you go to find out what the right play is in a spot you can describe exactly; our drills are where you go to stop having to work it out. If you are playing tournaments seriously, you will eventually want HRC or something like it. Drilling first makes its output easier to absorb.
